The Rome Flynn Episode
Thursday Jun 11, 2020
Thursday Jun 11, 2020
Woke AND Fine! Just how we like 'em. "How To Get Away With Murder" star and Daytime Emmy winner Rome Flynn blessed the YBF Podcast with...plenty. He's breaking into the music scene, and his new track "K.M.I.M." is about to be on your Get Ready playlist. And we're not talking about the one before the club.
He makes conscious decisions both on screen and off that have us ready to throw all the dollars at whatever he's selling: From intentionally casting a gorgeous and natural brown-skinned leading lady for his super (like, HELLA) sexy video to demanding networks change how they treat their black talent (*coughs* Hallmark Channel) before he works with them again, he's got plenty to say.
He's been on the front lines during the current protests against racial & police injustices, and doesn't hold back about why the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and so many more are key representations of the systemic oppression and racism in America. He also gives us his first hand account of seeing folks with ulterior motives inciting violence at the protests.
Plus, with Father's Day around the corner, the dad of a 5-year-old (we know, we're shocked too!) is giving us sage advice for keeping your sanity right now and why fatherhood is SUPER important to him, especially with his interesting relationship between him and his own dad.
And if you're trying to shoot your shot at Rome, he reveals exactly how you and your DM's can do that. He dishes on who he's tried shooting his shot at, his favorite way to meet a new bae, and the difficulties of dating, esp. right now.
Rome dishes on the latest on when and how Hollywood plans to get back to work since sex scenes during 'The Rona ain't it, his on screen sexcapades with Aja Naomi King, and more.

The LisaRaye Episode
Wednesday May 20, 2020
Wednesday May 20, 2020
We finally got to catch up with the living legend herself - LisaRaye McCoy. The "A House Divided" (airing Thursdays on UMC!) star is still in this Hollywood game and thriving, and still being one of the realest chicks while doing so.
She and Natasha chopped it up - quarantine style via Zoom - about how she prepared her coins for times like this and is focused on making her money even longer (she just released her own mattress line!), how she's happily spending her lock down days with her grandbaby and 4 generations of her family all under one roof, and all the many projects she has in the works.
Of course, we had to get her take on her sister Da Brat getting engaged....and to a business associate of hers, beauty entrepreneur Judy. She cleared up the story about them meeting through her (that's not exactly how it happened), and she dishes on her own love life and what she's still looking for in a man.
And she didn't hold back when talking about Stacy Dash and that incident, and asks why J.Lo thought she deserved an Oscar or any award for that Hustlers performance. Oop!
She cleared up whether they were friends before, if they're friends after, if she feels Stacy's umpteen divorces are karma, mistress woes, her real friends in the industry, and plenty more. Oh, and she reminds everybody she/Diamond IS the original on screen stripper legend, and yes, Cardi B. did kiss the ring before she did "Hustlers." Will a "Player's Club" sequel or an "All of Us" sequel be going down? Especially with her current beef with former co-star Duane Martin?! We got the tea straight from the source!
Y'all know LisaRaye is never scared and holds nothing back. Listen to Chi-Town's finest and Natasha chop it up now!

HOT TOPICS: The Quarantine Return! (Part 2)
Friday May 15, 2020
Friday May 15, 2020
White people doing white people ish. Even Omari Hardwick's wife had to bring her fellow white people in front of the IG TV congregation to speak to her fellow white people about their ongoing foolery and silence. They can start with calling for the arrests of the ARMED white men and women - most proudly claiming their conservative an Trump support - storming the Michigan state capitol and verbally abusing cops while not wearing masks....with zero repercussions.
Natasha and James talk about both the Ahmaud Arbery case and the Sean Reed case and why this feels like the Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin case all over again. And we're all SICK of it.
They lighten things up to warn the masses about why Ryan Henry from "Black Ink" is the epitome of a fine a-- f--kboi, the most dangerous type.
And then, THE "Insecure" discussion. This episode was taped just hours before the most recent episode of "Insecure" aired, and everyone's still in their feelings about it all. Team Issa vs. Team Molly? The toxic relationships, friendships, and hilarious sexcapade with the body positive security guard has everybody REELING.
Also discussed: Cheating accusations surrounding LeBron James, a HEATED discussion about why cheating is a deal-breaker for Natasha but not for James and why everybody should get therapy before their next relationship.

HOT TOPICS: The Quarantine Return! (Part 1)
Tuesday May 12, 2020
Tuesday May 12, 2020
No studio? No problem. Natasha's back with YBF Correspondent James Terrell to discuss a million and one hot topics because, y'all ain't got ish else to do but work, drink, and/or just survive. We don't make the quarantine rules, k? So let's also add "talk ish and discuss" to our to-do list today, shall we?
Natasha and James re-live the sexiest, saged up, lit-up session for our souls with Erykah Badu & Jill Scott's Verzuz non-battle battle that almost had us breaking social distancing rules and calling up exes and ish. Speaking of sexy, they also decide who they'd pay to watch during demon time on Only Fans.
They also visit what Nene Leakes would call "the ghetto" to talk about NFL baller Earl Thomas' wife pulling up on her cheating husband...with her home girls...in the middle of an orgy including his own brother...to pull a gun on him.
They also talk about the importance of the 3 legends we just lost and why the game will forever be changed, Trina vs. Khia and why this really battle really isn't needed (Khia has 284 hits?), Meghan Markle making the Brits seethe with just how black she really is moving into Tyler Perry's mansion, "Black Ink"'s Ryan Henry's epic thirst levels, and more.
Part 2 is up next!

When Craig Ross Jr. was asked what he had for breakfast during our mic check, and he responded with "My wife," we knew what type of ish we were about to get into on this here episode!
They say it's a first time for everything, and today's episode proved this old adage right! Natasha sat down with not just 1 or 2 talented YBFers, but a total of 4 immensely talented creatives! Let's just say it was a lively epi (full of mouth-dropping responses) and the most amount of guests we've ever had on TheYBF Podcast in one episode! From soulmates to couple swapping to hall passes to vibrators to selfish sex, we're cooking up some heated discussions.
Natasha gets into a completely unfiltered chat with the real life power couple and the talented duo Craig Ross Jr. & Caryn Ward Ross. The director (who is also behind Blue Hill Avenue) and actress (who is also a classically trained Alvin Ailey dancer with multiple acting credits) are behind the UMC/Amazon Prime HIT series "Craig Ross Jr.'s Monogamy." The twosome reveal how they came up with the couple-swapping plot after some angry fighting and even angrier sex. Chile...
We also get a chance to chat it up with one of The YBF's day 1 supporters and always-working actors, Wesley Jonathan. He drops a few 'man gems' on what men really are thinking and wanting out of relationships & situationships, his own ho-like past, plus what he learned from some of his former famous exes. We also find out if he's rolling into the Millennium II tour to see his former Roll Bounce co-star and if he's #TeamFizzandApryl or #TeamOmarion!
Finally, Natasha had a moment with one of her favorite YBF Chicks: former 'Girlfriends' star Jill Marie Jones! Find out what Natasha said to her to make her teary, what Jill Marie thinks a Girlfriends movie would look like, and why she is finally open to love and monogamy in her real life!
This episode could've been a whole day-long seminar with the cast & stars. Just honest 'grown folks' conversations about the things that either makes our lives uber enriching or just drive us insane - love, sex & relationships!
Watch seasons 1 & 2 of Craig Ross Jr.'s "Monogamy" on UMC via Amazon Prime now! It also stars Darius McCrary, Brian White, Vanessa Simmons & more!
(Correction: In podcast episode it was stated that you could access the series with an Amazon Prime membership. This actually is not the case for this particular content. You must sign up for a UMC account to access UMC content on Prime.)

Love, Legacy & Hopelessness: Everything We Love & Hate About 'Queen & Slim'
Thursday Dec 05, 2019
Thursday Dec 05, 2019
Queen & Slim is an instant cult classic. Yeah, we said it. Natasha and her good friend Amin give the breakdown of breakdowns about the most talked about film of the year. Scene by scene. Symbol by symbol. Theme by theme. There is MUCH to discuss.
Some folks are mad at screenwriter and director Lena Waithe & Melina Matsoukas for not giving a "fairytale ending" of black love. The rest of us are happy somebody finally portrayed what black love (of self and others) in America feels like to us - hopeless.
Like most of y'all, we felt some kind of way after watching an advanced screening of Queen & Slim, and now that it's out for everyone, we can finally explore why. Spoilers and all.
We get all semi-academic about induced transformation through trauma, fragility of black love and black bodies, freedom and toxic love. And also keep it all the way real asking "Why can't black folks f'in LIVE IN LOVE and not just find it?! Why is it always a damn struggle?!"
We also explore whether all killers are “bad people”, yearning to just feel something in this traumatic society, the traumatic effect of the justice system on black minds even those who are a part of the justice system as lawyers, running from feelings vs. chasing feelings, the dynamics of black heterosexual relationships when a woman is in a more educated position, women empowerment leading people to believe women no longer need any help as human beings, why all skinfolks aint kinfolks, black boys craving legacy and fighting against the belief that their bodies aren’t valued, naiveté and vulnerability of black men, still having trust in a society that conditions you not to, why it deserves ALL the cinematography awards, and plenty more.
But it all boils down to those poetic a** words of Jay-Z, "Can I live?"

Wednesday Nov 27, 2019
It's almost Thanksgiving, folks! And Natasha brought back her good friend Darius to discuss the hot topics that might turn your Thanksgiving dinner into a full on sh*tstorm, especially if drinks are involved. But we ain't never scared, and Natasha's got something to say.
A necessary discussion is had about toxic men and their role in tragedies that lead to the murder, assault, insecurity issues, and life altering situations of women. It's time folks started holding men accountable just as much as folks hold victims and/or women accountable, so let's talk about it.
Natasha and Darius go in about the horrific tragedy of Clark student Alexis Crawford as Alexis' roommate and good friend, Jordyn Jones, and Jordyn's boyfriend, Barron Brantley, are charged with her murder. They discuss why police, alleged friends, and men often have no love for black women, even when black women speak up about being sexually assaulted.
Also on this episode: Why Lori Harvey might be ruining her life with devil d**k Future, Princess calling out Ray-J for his mistreatment of her while she's a whole 8 months pregnant, and Ray-J seemingly gaslighting her like many men tend to do, Kevin McCall's absolutely stomach turning disrespect of a woman who "took him out on a date", Loni Love crying over finding herself a man and why it sparked ANOTHER interracial relationship debate, why singleness does NOT automatically equal loneliness, and why Colin Kaepernick basically gives us hope for stand-up men out there.

HALLOWEEN HOT TOPICS!
Thursday Oct 31, 2019
Thursday Oct 31, 2019
The tea in the celeb streets is getting scary. From Kanye West basically creating a cult to HBCUs getting infiltrated by 'Ye to Rihanna possibly getting back with Drake to Queen Lizzo catching hell from body shamers and clout chasers to the "Basketball Wives" colorism drama. Plus, Natasha dishes on what went down inside the DOLEMITE NYC premiere (Thanks for the invite Netflix!). Natasha lets umpteen years of ish off her chest to read body shamers for filth, the ignorant policing of black women's and girls' bodies, especially folks who judge women for their real bodies and people who body shame Natasha as well.
YBF Correspondent James Terrell joins Natasha to talk about everything, the hot topics AND Halloween shenanigans. James cant relate about all the Halloween foolery because Jesus is really his King, but Natasha loves Halloween. So we get into the ridiculous Halloween shenanigans that go down in NYC.
Natasha introduces a new segment called: "Sh*t you should be watching, but you're not!" She's got the PERFECT Halloween flick for the folks who never get scared (you.will.be.TRIGGERED!) and a bomb show black folks for sure overlooked, but shouldn't have. James also dishes on Tyler Perry's new....offerings.
Let's get into it. Happy Halloween, Fab Ones!

The Tank Episode
Friday Oct 25, 2019
Friday Oct 25, 2019
R&B singer (and legend in the making) Tank pulled up at The YBF Podcast recently to chat about everything - and we mean EVERYTHING.
He dished about doing a song with his new wife (but longtime love) Zena called "Our Song" for his new album Elevation, and about Omari Hardwick making an appearance on the project too.
Natasha and Tank debate about the current state of R&B and what's missing, his new album having a 90’s meets 2020 vibe and his VERY interesting Fantasy R&B Group.
They get super real about the fall out of him calling his biracial wife his black queen, and Tank drops knowledge - in between plenty laughs - about everything: Black people’s issues with biracial backgrounds, the double standards and why he chimed in on our IG post to defend his wife, who is responsible for the lack of representation of darker skin black women in Hollywood, why men walk away from a relationship even when they KNOW she’s the one (like he did years ago with his now-wife), why men are BABIES, why getting an album out with TGT was “the hardest process I’ve ever gone through” and why the thought of going through that “hell” again doesn’t make anyone in the group happy, his mixed feelings on gentrification and changes in major cities like where he grew up in the DC/Maryland area, the fallout after performing at DC Pride, he questions why what people, even like Malik Yoba, do in their sex life affects you, how he keeps in tip top shape to give his wife the business in the bedroom, why saving peak-sex abilities for marriage is bullsh*t, and how he's now doing stand up comedy.
Tank's brand new album Elevation is out NOW!
